Hand Therapy and Rehabilitation

Working Hands is the rehabilitation center
of Southern Illinois Hand Center. Rehabilitation of the hand following an
injury, disease or surgery is extremely important in regaining the hand
function. Rehabilitation of the hand is not a luxury, but it is a
necessity that is extremely crucial in improving the hand function to
achieve the best possible result .
Working Hands is staffed by two, specialty
trained occupational therapists and one certified occupation therapy
assistant, who are specialized in rehabilitation of the hand and upper
extremity. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to
ensure providing our patients with the best in hand rehabilitation.
In addition to treating acute and chronic
problems of the hand, Working Hands also provides industrial consultation
to employers with respect to ergonomic consultations, job analysis and job
modifications, and enhancement of the work place to accommodate special
needs of employees.

Work
Conditioning Program

Working Hands also has a state-of-the-art
work-conditioning program. The philosophy of work-conditioning is to
increase patients activities gradually and allow the employee to perform
the duties of the original work activities on a gradually increasing
basis, until the patient is ready to resume his or her normal regular work
activities. Thus far, our track record is more than 95%. More than 95%
of the patients who went through our work-conditioning program were able
to return to their regular work activities.
